EURO-FILMFESTIVAL 2015
From 08th October to 10th October 2015 in Ansbach/Germany
Welcome to our Euro Filmfestival 2015 in Ansbach!
With a population of about 40.000 inhabitants Ansbach is situated about 40 kilometres southwest of Nuremberg at the Franconian river Rezat in the catchment area of the river Main. Regarding its surface area Ansbach is the fifth biggest city in the Free State of Bavaria ranking after Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg and Ingolstadt.
Ansbach is always worth a visit. Ansbach is situated in the heart of Bavaria and administrative capital of Middle Franconia. The city was the former residence of the margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach with an eventful and varied history of more than 1.250 years. Impressive architectoral monuments like the Hofkanzlei, the churches St. Johannis and St. Gumbertus, the residence with its 27 magnificent rooms and the marvellous orangery give evidence of the brilliant past of the former residence city and invite you at the same time to visit the museum of local history.
We can never solve the secret of Kaspar Hauser but you can follow his traces here in Ansbach. Wellknown citizens besides Kaspar Hauser were August Graf von Platen, Anselm von Feuerbach, Friedrich Güll, Johann Peter Uz, Leonhart Fuchs and Simon Marius. You may have heard of some of these names. Many of these have been born in Ansbach or have worked here.
Ansbach does not only think European, but cultivates a number of international partnerships with the French city Anglet und Bay City of the United States as well as the Chinese city of Jingjiang. Since 2006 Ansbach is connected with the Italian city Fermo as an official city partnership.
The former garrison city of Ansbach today attracts attention for its modern institutions like the University of Ansbach with about 3.000 students, middle sized industries, various administrative institutions and an attractive center with many retail shops.
Perhaps you intend to stay a few days more in our city. The surrounding area has many interesting attractions. We recommend trips to Nuremberg, Rothenburg o.d. Tauber or Dinkelsbuehl with their wellknown historical old towns which are well within reach by car from Ansbach. The new Franconian Lake Area (Altmühlsee, Brombachsee, Rothsee) invite you for a short sightseeing tour.
